Written for the 2009 McShep Match - Team War
Prompt: Carpe Diem
Title: Memento Mori (Seize the New Day)
Author:
neevebrody
Pairing(s): McKay/Sheppard
Rating: NC-17-Adult
Warnings: Adult Situations, Language, Futuristic Earthside AU
Word Count: 21,400
Legal: None of these characters belong to me.
Author's Notes: Huge thanks and four vats of aged roos wine to my fabulous beta,
mischief5 I could not have done this without her. The story is a homage to the old-school sci-fi of the '50s and '60s, and is very loosely based on one of my favorite stories, "The Pedestrian" by Ray Bradbury.
Summary: The banging at his door woke him immediately. He threw off the covers as he became more aware and stumbled out of the bed, heart racing and chest aflame at the sudden intrusion of his sleep. Just as he reached the bedroom door, he heard a crash and heavy footsteps coming toward the hallway. Jesus, surely they hadn't started home invasions again. A flash of fear joined the emotional soup - he had all his work laid out on his desk, the file readers, and what if someone had found out about…
The link will take you to my dreamwidth journal, where you will find the fic all in one post.

I've done a few more manips for the Sensual Magic AU series, particularly the stories: Two of a Mind and Reflections. You know the author has opened up this verse for whoever wants to come and play and I encourage you to stop in at
lornes_diner for a coffee and a look around, join, watch - maybe even leave a story or some art. There are many stories at Lorne's... they're just waiting to be told!

First of all, let me say that the problem has been fixed with
chkc's contribution for BJ Friday. The art is now HERE, and you can leave feedback here - This is so NSFW.
The fic is something I started for
melagan weeks ago in honor of her new car. I decided while I was sick, that I'd try and finish up a few things and this is one of them. Well, not 'finished' exactly, but this part is. It's college age John and Rodney again. Hope you enjoy it.

pairing: young!John/young!Rodney
rating: NC-17
words: 1,600
warnings: none, AU
notes: Again, this is unbetaed, but do let me know if you spot something. And thanks to
mischief5 for the info on the car - *hugs*
summary: He still held Sheppard's hand, his mind trying to decide on a course of action in the face of way too much stimuli.

title: Curb Appeal
rating: G
words: 1,750
legal: They are so not mine.
beta: Thanks to the lovely
fredbassett for the beta. I fiddled after, so all mistakes are down to me.
spoilers/warnings: None, future fic, takes place after Pegasus.
notes: This is a prequel of sorts to The Fallacy of Time, wherein I introduce the house. I'd always said I'd like to write pieces of their life before the events of that story, and
casa_mcshep has given me the perfect opportunity.
summary: Rodney stopped the car and gazed out of the windshield. The house had that abandoned look about it, dark, frowning windows and covered over by layers of time.

This is the holiday drabblet (more than a drabble yet not quite a ficlet) I wrote for
sonadorita. I didn't intend to post these, but Dorie gave her permission and that gives me another opportunity to rec her fic They Say He Was On The Moon, which my drabblet follows. It's a fabulous McShep AU piece and I do hope she writes more in this verse very soon. It's necessary to read that one first, but you won't be sorry. Then my little follow up will make sense.

Title: Case at Hand - Part 2
Author: neevebrody
Pairing/Characters: John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Teyla Emmagan, Ronon Dex, OC
Rating: R for most parts, language, NC-17 for some situations
Words: ~12,800
Warnings/Spoilers: Total AU, none
Notes: I wanted to evoke the feeling of the old film noir, 40s style detective novels, so the fic is written in first person narration. Now I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but do give it a chance. It really lends to the tone of the fic and as Dorie said, you get a few tidbits and asides you'd never get with third person. Now the science? I did research a few things, but just remember, it's the paranormal! Also, there's an almost farcical air to the fic, and that's to remind us not to take it too seriously, although there is another whole layer to the story that begs to differ. Cryptic enough? Good. Go read and enjoy!
Summary: I turn to the dead guy on the slab, the guy with the top of his head sliced away. It's weird and kind of surreal – kind of looks like that stuff you see in the supermarket, sweetbreads, only like a real stomach-turning shade of grayish blue. Thankfully, Rodney's voice draws my attention back into the conversation. He's clearly excited about whatever he thinks this is.

C'mon, tell me that idea isn't intriguing. Or how about Dr. Rodney McKay, M.E., or Ronon Dex, Gold Shield detective for a major Metro police force, or Captain Teyla Emmagan, head of the Twelfth Precinct? Put them all together with the paranormal and an elusive killer and you have Case at Hand.
This story was written especially for the lovely
sonadorita as a birthday gift. Please read the author's notes in the description of the fic for more info.
And there's art!
berlinghoff79 nailed the cover for the fic (please go here and tell her how awesome she is!) Then I got inspired and created a collage/wallpaper.

Title: Years May Go By
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard - includes the Millers
Genre: Future Fic
Rating: G
Words: ~4,100
Warnings/Spoilers: see author notes
Beta: I want to thank my wonderful betas,
sonadorita and
girly_curl_3, for their invaluable insight and advice. ::hugs you both::
Summary: Maddie was no stranger to sleeping in hospitals, although the waiting area would be a new experience. She'd stay because her mother and father would come straight there, and she needed to have a word with her mother before letting her see Uncle Mer.
A/N: This is one of the stories in my "Miller-verse," which began with The Ceremony. These fics can be found here. This particular story is the sequel to The Fallacy of Time and actually the second part of that trilogy. Most of you have read 'Fallacy' and if not, it's sort of necessary that you read it first. 'Years' takes place immediately after the events of that fic. As for warnings - 'Fallacy' is not a death!fic, per se. It's a future fic with the character death occurring before the events of the fic. As I said about 'Fallacy' - there's a lot of love in the fic and the same is true with this one. 'Years' has angst and family drama, but again, the love is what I think shines through the most and it is happy in the end. That said, I realize and respect that there are those who will choose not to read it, but obviously, I hope you will.

Title: Dreams Beneath Our Feet
Rating: G (just a couple of swears)
Word Count: 9,500
Pairing: This is Team, but has a bit of a McShep bent
Prompt:
friendshipper's Pirates. Yarrrr! She wrote a series of five ways they weren't pirates awhile back -- space pirates, buccaneers on the high seas, sky pirates, etc. If anyone wants to run with one of these ideas. I took the first one "Ronon Dex, Space Pirate." You don't have to read it first, but I would recommend it for background. (and what lovely inspiration it was, too)
Warnings: None really. Gen, pre-slash.
Notes: Smashing beta by
quasar273 - really above and beyond the call. Due to time constraints I did a lot after her beta, so if you find mistakes, they're all mine. The title comes from W. B. Yeats' He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven. Also many thanks to
friendshipper for a wonderful fic to work from.
Summary: "Yes, and how many of those friends would sell their own grandmother for what the Genii will be offering for our capture? Hmm? You know as well as I, soon enough every bounty hunter in three galaxies will be looking for us." His face grew hot and sweat prickled the back of his neck. He held up his hand. "And don't forget about these. We're marked. It would only be a matter of time. And then what-do you think their little fun and games will be enough to keep them occupied?" His voice grew louder. "I did not escape Hell to be thrown back into it.

Genre: kidfic - Wee!John, Wee!Rodney, AU

Legal: nothing belongs to me except the memory
Summary: John came over and sat down in front of Meredith with another big piece of construction paper. He began fashioning another plane. "I'm bored," he said. "Don't we get to go outside? It's summertime."
AN: I have no idea where this came from, but it stuck itself firmly in my mind and wouldn't let me get away with not writing it. The story is, however, based on an incident from my own childhood. I envision the little tykes to be around 8-9 years old. Thanks to
