Er. Somehow I was in Cardiff last night talking to Eddie Izzard, and it wasn't a dream.

Aaaaand now I have no money.

HELLO I AM SENSIBLE NICE TO MEET YOU. O.o

1. Carla got her new computer today! My old laptop (which she's currently using) is really starting to die (looks like it needs a new hard drive), so instead of saving the new computer til Christmas, we decided she'd just start using it now.

2. Had a nice walk tonight. Four miles, which is longer than we've done in a while. She's been busy with school, I've been busy with work, there's yoga two nights a week interfering with our schedule, and then for the past couple weeks she's been sick. But tonight Alexander wanted something from the Apple Store, so we walked down to the Promenade and back. Stopped at El Pollo Loco on the way, yum.

3. Speaking of chicken, I was boiling a whole chicken earlier today for use in enchiladas and I kind of forgot about it on the stove and so it got cooked way longer than I meant it to...but that ended up being a good thing! The chicken was just falling off the bones!

I'm really upset and now I'm crying.

They cancelled my trip because they want to continue gallivanting around Australia. I had to change my trip a week ago for them. I don't mind not going, but I missed out on weekend work. I needed that money to pay for my car rego. I can't work during my law degree, so I'm just now starting to get work and then I have to refuse 600 or so dollars. Now my car rego will go on my credit card.

My grandmother has now sided with my mother and says that I shouldn't have told my parents to get their asses back up home. She's listened to my mother's big sob story about how she has no control over my step-father and he makes the decisions. Now I'm the one who can't be an "adult". I need the money to cover my rego. They've messed me about.

But no, I'm apparently being unreasonable.

This is so frustrating and sad.

Hell, apparently my parents prefer to try to contact the daughter that ran away and used to punch and kick them, whereas the daughter that stayed - i.e. me - is unreasonable and not an adult. What's the deciding factor? My step-sister has babies and I do not. My mother can forgive anyone for anything if they let her hold a child.

I've cried so much I now have a headache.

I hate my family sometimes. Who is going to pay my rego?! I could have had the best weekend work.

Since everyone was talking about Archive of Our Own, and a couple people told me they had made some changed in the support/feedback area, I kind of got sucked into using it again.

I've been uploading a handful of fics every day and submitting a ton of feature requests/bug reports, and...people have actually responded. And let me tell you, it makes all the difference in the world. I really feel like they want my feedback and are working to improve, whereas as I said before it seemed like all the feedback I left just disappeared into the void.

And I've had a couple comments on fics, plus one got bookmarked! And it was just a double drabble, too, so totally unexpected, but it made my day. (They don't have any notifications for bookmarks (I submitted a request for that!) so I just check my fics every day now to see if anyone's bookmarked anything. XD)

I also have been tagging my trans fics as such, and noticed other people have used trans/transgender/transsexual/etc. and they're all wrangled together, so I've been checking back on the trans tag to see what fics are being added. So far I caught two that were not on my master list. :D

So I have been playing around with creating a story rec site of my own on delicious, ala cupidsbow . I adore the rec_room; I have found some terrific recommendations there--not just stories but videos as well. And not just McShep or SGA, but across many fandoms, most notably TW, Merlin and the ST:Reboot.

That having been said, it seems that rec_room is devoting less time to my obsession beloved show, and I found myself motivated to go back and dig up some of my favorite stories (many of whom I never bookmarked in the first place) as well as making sure I keep track of new favorites that I run across. This is most definitely a WIP and I will be gradually adding to it over time. But I certainly hope that you all drop in and take a look at some of the stories and vids that have made an impression on me over the years and maybe add them to your own must-read lists. As a WIP, I plan to add a few bookmarks every couple of days until I catch up with my cache of unbookmarked stories--titles collected over 2 years of reading primarily SGA.

I am terribly new to this process, and like all new technical things, I will probably make some glaring mistakes. If you run across some major bloopers here, please point them out and I will try to fix them.

And maybe someday soon, I will stop messing around with things like this (and attempting to podfic *shudders at the efforts*) and get back to doing what I like best, namely writing. And if for any reason this link doesn't work, please let me know. For some reason it does not come up on a search of the delicious site nor when you google it...
