“Good morning fellow BJF'ers… your theme today, should you chose to accept it, is 'the sound of your voice'… …not necessarily the dirty talk, but we're concentrating on the sound… Sure Rodney loves it when John tells him what he wants, how he wants it… but sometimes, the words aren't really important… making John talk is… making John say… anything. But what happens when John gets to that point where it's just the sounds he makes that urges Rodney on… those low moans he tries to keep silent, the breath he holds then lets go in a rush when Rodney swirls his tongue a certain way… And what of Rodney? John's never told Rodney how hot he gets listening to him babble incoherently, or those short little huffs of breath tangled up with John's name right before Rodney comes. Then again… how about just the sound of Rodney's voice over the radio… or the timbre and pitch of John barking orders… it doesn't have to be anything overtly sexual. I'm looking for the sound… just hearing one another's voice could be comforting, relieving, grounding. So many possibilities and I'm anxious to 'hear' what you all come up with. Oh, and for our artists, there's whispering, or even hands over mouths. And because all you're getting in the way of a prompt is my twangy voice… I've posted a little something showing just one example of how relieved Rodney is to hear John's… look at that face! So that's your alternate inspiration. chkc was busy with reading, studying and midterms. We're sure she aced the midterms \0/ and will just leave a little hint here for bearded!Rodney chibi for when things slow down. ;)

We started us off with a little prompt about John's reaction to Rodney's return from being off-world for a few days. Comment!fic was written, round-robin, style by melagan, theeverdream, mezzo_cammin, and myself. I've put it all together, uninterrupted, and call it ( homecoming )

I had originally planned something with sound(s) (outsideth3box, we'll come back to that *winks*) for this week until I got waylaid by yesterday's hewlett_daily screencap, today's too in fact. So we're going with pic prompts and you can write a porny little snippet if you're so inclined... or add to the picspam. I believe the subject matter will be quite obvious, but you know how we are here... no rules, just the love of the boys, so sharpen those imaginations, be inspired and everyone have fun!!

My goodness… fingering turned out to be a wonderful prompt. Lots of warm, toe-curling responses (of course, we wouldn't say no to more) and some new batters stepping up to the plate. I think I can speak for melagan as well when I say that we really enjoy seeing what you all have to share each week and are full of encouragement for newbies and lurkers alike. On to the recap:

My boss was supposed to be out of the office today – he's not. What's up with that? I was going to use a little free time for today's BJ Friday prompt. Instead, I've got a new case to start work on and a spotty internet connection. By the time you read this, it will have taken me twenty twenty-seven minutes to post this! (I'll do a recap of last week just as soon as I can get to another computer)

For today's prompt, I'm just going to point you over to the glitter!porn party going on here. Lot's of good stuff already, and I firmly believe that glitter, sparkly curtains and harem pants are vastly untapped resources for BJ Friday. Don't you?

It's the John Sheppard That Thing We Don't Talk or Hug About - a kind of lo--like meme that's guaranteed to brighten your day Sheppard style, *shrugs* you know.

As reported by BBC News, President Barack Obama has promised to end the ban on gays serving in the military. In a speech to the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, he said he would repeal DADT, but no timeline was given. Also during his speech, President Obama called on Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and for legislation that would extend benefits to domestic partners.

All I can say is, action speaks louder than words Mr. President. Here's hoping that action will follow swiftly.

I've been thinking lately about all those utility closet fics… you know the ones, we've all written one and/or read many. That put me in mind of semi-public blowjobs (or handjobs, or frottage - picky, I'm not). Whether it's the closet or Rodney's lab late at night… just that little chance that someone might see… or hear… And with Atlantis earthbound for the time being, what about shore leave?

So... somewhere on the streets of San Francisco, or off-world, or any number of vestibules and causeways on Atlantis… it is a pretty big place. I'm sure our boys have found a few well-sheltered spots that still offer that titillating threat of exposure. Or, maybe we see the boys through someone else's eyes, with John and Rodney completely unaware? (can I bribe someone to write that?)

Summary: The banging at his door woke him immediately. He threw off the covers as he became more aware and stumbled out of the bed, heart racing and chest aflame at the sudden intrusion of his sleep. Just as he reached the bedroom door, he heard a crash and heavy footsteps coming toward the hallway. Jesus, surely they hadn't started home invasions again. A flash of fear joined the emotional soup - he had all his work laid out on his desk, the file readers, and what if someone had found out about…

The 2009 mcshep_match is over! And what a great match - 60 new pieces of brilliant storytelling and art for your McShep pleasure. The Master List is up here and it can now be revealed that my story is Memento Mori (Seize the New Day). And please note, there are spoilers for the fic in the comments, so if you want the full effect of the story, do not read the comments first.

Oh and you should bookmark that Master List, because it's just one big fantastic rec list. You can see for yourself, I was part of a team of awesome writers and artists and I was honored to be there. Winners will be announced tomorrow.

As you know, I'm thinking of signing up for smallfandom_bb, but now I'm waffling a bit... not about signing up but about which Hewligan pairing to write. I first thought Brendan/Emmett (something to do with the WHO and Doctors Without Borders) but then another pairing came to mind, one that I've already been thinking of writing - Gus Gruber (The Triangle) and Dr. Tom Arquette (Profiler). What if Gus had survived his trip to the Bermuda Triangle only to return home to a family tragedy which leaves his ex-wife dead and his child in the hospital. Dr. Tom meets a very distraught Gus in the hospital cafeteria and what starts as a friendship builds into something more as Tom helps Gus through a maze of guilt and insecurities so that he can be a better father.

Add to that a very challenging prompt posted at the site pairing David Worth (Cube) and Alex DeMouy (Cupid). Worth survives the Cube and DeMouy is the one he tells his story to. Now this is what a challenge is all about and I have to admit, I am very tempted to give that a go.

So, because I am waffling, another poll - just for me to gauge interest.

And while there are some great prompts... you can write your own as well. The word count requirement is only 20,000 - an attainable goal for me since I've just finished one over that. I'm thinking of writing Hewligan myself - have a little Brendan/Emmett plot bunny that should fit the bill nicely. Gee, have I talked myself into this yet? Hmmm, maybe a poll to see who's with me on this...
